It’s day 5 and the final day of Gifts in a Tin week! In preparation for Christmas and simple and fun gift giving, I’ve been putting together some easy gift basket ideas for you. In case you missed yesterday’s Spa Day in a tin, here it is. Today’s gift basket idea? Christmas Baking in a Tin!

In this gift basket, I’ve used:

What are some other things you could include in a gift tin like this? What about some oven mitts or a mixing bowl?

Directions:

First, print out the free Christmas Baking Kit PDF printable on a piece of white cardstock (click on the photo to download your free sheet of printable labels and tags ):

To make the sugar cookie jar, mix together 1 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Fill the mason jar with 3/4 cup white sugar, and then pour the flour mixture in (I really had to tap the jar and push the flour mixture in with a spoon to make it fit my mason jar). Put the “Christmas Sugar Cookies” printable label on the lid before screwing on the ring and cut out the tag with the baking instructions. Punch a hole in the top of the instructions, and thread a piece of ribbon or twine (long enough to go around the jar) through the tag and a cookie cutter. Tie around the mouth of the jar.

Decorate your tin, basket or box with the “Christmas Baking Kit” label and a piece of scrapbook paper or ribbon as shown above.

Place the cookie cutter, sprinkles, wooden spoon and apron in your tin. You could also include a card. To gift the kit, wrap it all up with some cellophane tied in a matching ribbon bow.

This would be a fun gift for your neighbor or for the baker on your list!

  1. Hi Christina! For some reason clicking on the image is not opening the PDF download for me. I could be that I haven’t had enough coffee yet but I thought I’d let you know in case there’s an error in the link or something. Thanks! I’ll come back later. 🙂

  2. What are the dimensions of the tins you used? Couldn’t find them on Pick Your Plum anymore, and want to try to find something similar. These are SO stinking cute!!

  3. Hi,
I love your idea, I’m doing this for my mom! Do you think a tin 5″x 5″ x 10″ is too large? I already bought it online, but now I’m afraid I got it too large? Thanks!

  5. Hi, I ordered the tin off of amazon that you recommended and I could hardly fit one mason jar in there, let alone anything else. It was tiny!! I ordered three, and I have ever been so disappointed. I know that it is my own fault and I should have looked at the dimensions on amazon but I just didn’t want anyone else to do the same thing I did! Love this idea, and the chalkboard paper cutouts and I would love to be able to make some, but unfortunately can’t find a tin. ):

  6. I absolutely love these gifts in a tin….don’t suppose you’v got any ideas to make one for as a ladies 40th birthday gift ?

  7. Hey!I just wanted to let you know I mentioned this post in one of my blog posts because I used the coffee lover tin idea last year. Here is a direct link to the post if you would like to check it out
