Spring is in the air. I can just smell it. Yum. I simply can’t wait for puddle jumping, leaf explosions, and garden flowers. How about you? Last year at this time, I was working on making fabric flowers with my sister for her upcoming wedding. Here’s the tutorial I wrote about making these fabric roses and peonies, and today I’m going to share with you the video tutorial version. These are of course really beautiful in a bridal bouquet (I’ll share the DIY for that soon), or they also are pretty to use as home decor accessories.

Since it’s wedding prep season, I am also going to share some more of the DIY details from my sister’s vintage inspired wedding last year. Remember her lovely bridal shower? With the help of my little sis, we’ll share with you how to make a bridal bouquet from these fabric flowers and how to make a gorgeous juliet cap veil. Stay tuned for those tutorials coming this month.

I think these DIY fabric roses / peonies look really realistic, and my sister received so many great comments on the use of them in her wedding bouquets. Though they are time consuming to make, they’re also quite relaxing and a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy this video tutorial that makes me excited for Spring!

  1. That you so much!! This tutorial is absolutely wonderful!! My wedding is in September and this is exactly what I have been searching for! Do you have any recommendations for attaching the flowers to stems for bouquets?

  2. Hi Christina, could you please help me.. I adore your flowers, I have everything down except the sewing part.. I for the life of me do not know what I am doing wrong. Is there anyway you could help

  3. This is by far the best fabric flower tutorial that I have seen (and I’ve seen many). Thank you for this! I do have a couple of questions: What is the difference when you are making peonies? Do you elevate the leaves from the center or keep them even? and by gathering them do you mean that you do a small gathering stitch to the bottom of the whole petal as opposed to just fastening them together? Do you have a tutorial just for the peony? I love the printable pdf, everything!

  4. Hi Christina,
I love your video on making these flowers! I just love the colors of the fabrics in these flowers! Can you tell me what color fabric you used and where you purchased the fabric? I’ve looked at amazon and the online fabric store and can’t find the color fabric you used.
    Love your blog!!
