French Country Farmhouse Christmas Dining Room & Table Setting

I’ve been feeling rather confused about which direction I want to go with our Christmas decor this year. I’m not sure if it’s the over abundance of social media or if it’s the fact that I took on a little too much work this season… either way, it’s been a struggle! I really love Christmas and the joy and peace we celebrate at this time of year, so with that in mind I tried to quiet all of the other voices around me for a little while and work on our first Christmas-y room in our home – our dining room. I used mostly what I already had in my holiday decor stash, and focused the decor around the feeling of peace and calmness. Welcome to our French country farmhouse inspired dining room all decorated for Christmas!

I kept  the colour scheme in here nice and soft. The wall colours were my guide – soft greens and whites. To me, this palette is so calming and peaceful.

I placed my old flocked tree in the corner of the room and decorated it will some white & silver ornaments from my stash. This gorgeous black & cream ribbon from Shy Myrtle on Etsy is the only new item in this room and I love its French country vibe!

To create a simple Christmas tablescape, I used my DIY macrame table runner as a base and decorated it with a faux boxwood garland and a sparkly lit garland I found at Costco last year.

The individual settings are my favourite aqua plates, simple white plates, and a rattan charger.

Wine glasses and a spring of faux lavender at each setting complete the simple French country inspired tablescape.

I put some old Halloween costume angel wings on chairs again! I love this trick, and I thought it looked so sweet in this soft, peaceful room.

On the sideboard, I wrapped some presents with metallic paper and the striped ribbon to use as decor, and draped another lit garland across the length of the piece.

On the other side, a white wooden advent calendar, our sparkly nutcracker, and a stack of white plates add to our peaceful white & green colour scheme.

As a final touch, I used floral wire to attach some faux greenery and a bow to our orb light fixture.

Here’s how this room glows at night – I love it!

I’m really happy with how this room turned out after my struggle “finding my Holiday decorating groove” this month. This room really makes me feel at peace and take a deep breath. I can’t wait to share it with my family & friends this Christmas!

  1. The white couch with the wooden dining table is sooo chic! Love how you dressed up the space with ribbons too. And coming from a nutcracker lover, the white one you have is refreshing! I just bought new ones that actually crack nuts because of this intriguing article: https://www.cuckooforest.com/blogs/cuckoo-forest-blog/nutcrackers-that-actually-crack-nuts but they we’re all in typical soldier colors. Did you buy yours as is or did you repaint it?

    1. So happy you enjoyed the space and much as Christina does. Christina did purchase the nutcracker white ?

  2. Wow… I wish I had a vast home with decent kids(lol) who can put things in its place.

Your ideas are very soothing to the eyes. I am happy to see your decorations rather than trying it with my self
