A Simple & Fresh Summer Living Room Tour

As much as I love styling and decorating, I always feel like summer is a time to pull back a bit on all of the decor and simplify. Come take a tour of my living room all decorated for summer in pinks and blues with a fresh and simple feel.

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Brick. As always, all of the opinions here are my own.

This room is one of the most used in our home, and now that the kids are home for summer I want it to be really functional and minimal. The less pillows and accessories to toss around, the better!

The first step I took to decorating (or un-decorating?) our living room for summer was to pare down the throw pillows on our favourite piece in here – the Paris Sectional from The Brick. I KNOW! I’m the queen of throw pillows, but I think 3 or 4 pillows on this sofa looks fresh and simple and summery – especially since they’re in bright blues and florals!

A bright but light cotton throw in a bold blue also gives our couch a lighter feel for the season, as do some fresh peonies from our garden in a bold pink colour.

The Paris Sectional (we have the 3 piece one in Stone) has proven to be the most loved piece of furniture in our home because not only is it beautiful to look at (my favourite part!), but it’s incredibly comfortable (the kids’ and the hubby’s favourite part!). It’s only become more comfortable as it’s aged, and we’ve had it for almost 2 years now. I still find it easy to clean with a vacuum and a damp rag, and I’m really happy with how it’s held its shape.

We’re considering changing up the layout in this room again for the Fall and replacing our dearly loved couch with something different, but rest assured this guy will be going to our basement or to someone in my family because it’s just such a great piece! It sure makes our summer living room look cozy and elegant, even when the decor is simple.

We read, play and cuddle here in our summertime living room. Pared down decor on our Cranfill Coffee Table also gives more room for the kids to play and relax here.

I even edited my original nautical inspired summer mantel decor to make it simpler.

I know this room – and our sectional! – will be well loved this summer, and now it’s ready! Here’s to lazy post-beach couch cuddles, long summer reading sessions, and afternoon naps. Happy summer!
