9 DIY Throw Pillows – Sew and No-Sew Options!

I love making DIY throw pillows to use in my seasonal decor! I’m definitely a pillow-aholic, and over the years, I’ve created many DIY throw pillows. Throw pillows are a simple way to add different colours, texture and styles into your home without having to spend much money at all. Here are 9 DIY throw pillows that you can make, half of which do not require a sewing machine! 

HOW TO SEW A FAUX FUR PILLOW COVER + MY TIPS FOR SEWING WITH FAUX FUR (VIDEO)

I’ve loved furry pillows and throws for as long as I can remember, and I especially love using them to decorate my home when it’s cold outside. They are so comfy and soft, and my kids love cuddling with furry pillows and blankets too! MAKE A NO-SEW PILLOW COVER

 
 
If you don’t have a sewing machine, or you’d rather not use one, this method is a great alternative! These linen grey + white stitched pillow covers were made with fabric, hem tape, my iron, and a little bit of hand sewing. I think they look pretty fabulous!
 
 

DIY FALL PILLOW FROM DOLLAR TREE TOWELS

When I made this DIY throw pillow for fall from Dollar Tree towels, I never imagined it would become as popular as it has! This homemade pillow is SO easy to make. I started with some $1.25 plaid towels from Dollar Tree, added some simple embroidery, sewed them together and popped a pillow form inside. It’s so simple and inexpensive for a cute seasonal decor accessory!
 
 

MAKE A CROCHET CHAIN HEART DIY VALENTINES PILLOW

If you like quick and inexpensive home decor crafts, you’ll love this DIY heart pillow! It does involve a little bit of crochet (crocheting a chain), but you could simply use chunkier yarn if you don’t wish to crochet. I love how this pillow looks with my grouping of a DIY floral throw pillow and my favourite fringed pillow from Anthropologie.

SEW A DIY PILLOW COVER IN VELVET WITH AN EXPOSED ZIPPER

Velvet’s always been a fabric fabric of mine, and I especially love it in the colder months for its soft and warm look. I love these DIY throw pillows so much because they have a beautiful copper coloured exposed zipper!

I’ve always loved any sort of trim with texture like tassels, lace and fringe. I bought a couple of different options, but then I also tried my hand at creating a DIY tasseled throw pillow and I was so happy with the results. This is such a fun DIY for your living room or bedroom decor!

This is another really simple DIY, that doesn’t require any sewing! I love the look of natural coloured, cotton pillows with tons of texture. These are perfect for a boho or farmhouse themed home, and match with so many other pieces!  You can make this throw pillow for hardly any money at all, using Dollar Tree bath mats and macrame cord!

These pillows have piped edges and a hidden back zipper. They are more of an intermediate sewing project, but I promise that the results are worth it!
