Looking for 5 dollar gift for Christmas that would be perfect for teachers, friends, bus drivers, neighbors, delivery drivers, hostess gifts, and family? Not only are these Dollar Tree gift ideas budget friendly, but they look adorable! Let me show you how to make them.

With a smaller budget for Christmas gift this year, I wanted to challenge myself to put together some adorable looking gifts on a budget. I went to Dollar Tree with the goal in mind to have about $5 to $10 for each gift. I was pleasantly surprised with what I came up with, and these gift ideas are TOO GOOD to keep to myself! Here are some 5 dollar gifts for Christmas (some are a little more in Canada) using only items from the Dollar Tree. You could also find similar items on Amazon, at Dollarama, or at another favourite dollar store if you prefer. Even though these are inexpensive, I think these are thoughtful gifts that I’m excited to give this year!

Manicure Set Gift Idea

Perfect gift for: sister, Mom, friend, teacher, bus driver, neighbor, teenager, tween, stocking stuffer, girlfriend

From Dollar tree, you will need:

  • double compartment snack container
  • pink paper shred
  • pink colour manicure kit
  • pink nail polish
  • travel sized hand cream
  • ribbon and/or twine
  • my free printable gift tags (below)

Instructions:

Open up the snack container, and in one side place some paper shred and the manicure set (unpackage, minus the nail file). In the other side of the container place some paper shred, the nail polish and the hand cream. Close the container, tie some ribbon or twine around it, and then attach a gift tag. Slide the nail file into the ribbon.

Variations: You could use the same container to package gifts in different themes like a makeup themed gift, a self care theme with lip balm, a scrunchie and a small candle, a child’s gift with a small toy or two… the options are endless!

DIY Gift Tip: Pick a theme!

A tip to make 5 dollar gifts for Christmas look more high-end is to think of a theme for the gift. It could be a manicure theme, pedicure theme, food related theme, a theme based off a movie, a theme based off of a hobby… the options are endless! Also, think of a color scheme for the packaging. This will make your gift look more put-together even if all your items are from a budget store like Dollar Tree or Dollarama! The best gifts are the ones that are packaged thoughtfully and with love… even if they didn’t cost you that much.

Hot Chocolate Mug Gift Idea

Perfect for: neighbor, family friends, parents, siblings, girlfriend, boyfriend, spouse

From Dollar tree, you will need:

Instructions:

Put a few of the candies in the bottom of the mug. Add the package of cookies, the package of hot chocolate, red and white straw, and the sprinkles to the mug.

Finish by adding a few more of those peppermint candies. Use the twine and ribbon to tie a DIY gift tag around the handle of the mug. Wrap everything up in cellophane or pop the mug in a gift bag to give.

Variation: You could also use this cute mug to make a coffee themed or tea themed gift! Simply swap out the hot chocolate mix for coffee or tea.

Stickers & Fun Gift Idea

Perfect for: kids, cousin, niece of nephew, stocking stuffer

From Dollar tree, you will need:

  • large plastic cup with straw
  • nail stickers
  • magic washcloth
  • stickers
  • twine & ribbon
  • pink paper shred

Instructions:

Place some paper shred in the bottom of the cup, and then put the washcloth package on the bottom. Add the stickers and the nail stickers, and then put the top back on at the cup. Finish by tying some twine around the cup and adding some gift tags.

Variations: If your recipient doesn’t like Minnie Mouse like mine does, pick a different character to base the theme around! Or even an animal: think a unicorn theme, tiger theme, or horse theme. This cup also makes a great stocking stuffer or a favour for birthdays, and you can add other items like a keychain, small toy, crayons, or pens.

Peppermint Sugar Scrub Gift in a Jar

Perfect for: friend, Mom, sister, teenager, tween, hostess gift, girlfriend

From Dollar tree, you will need:

  • iridescent jar with rose gold lid
  • faux evergreen branch
  • twine & ribbon

You’ll also need:

  • 1 1/2 cups coarse sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp fractionated coconut oil
  • 2-3 drops peppermint extract

Instructions:

In a medium sized bowl, put about a cup and a half of coarse sugar inside. Next, add about 2 to 3 tablespoons of fractionated coconut oil. Start with two and then mix it all up and see what the consistency is like. You want it to have a consistency where you can put it on your skin and it stays there and then you can rub it in to do the natural exfoliation. Once you mix those two ingredients together, add a few drops of peppermint extract. I prefer food grade extract over essential oils just in case the recipient is allergic to the oils.

Pack the sugar scrub into the clean, sanitized Dollar Tree jar. Finish the gift by taking a little piece of the faux evergreen branch, taking some a red and white Christmas twine and tying that around the neck of the jar. Add a DIY sugar scrub tag with all the directions for the recipient so they know exactly what to do with the scrub. This is such a cute gift for anyone on your list!

Soda Pop & Gift Card Gift Idea

Perfect for: friend, teacher, bus driver, delivery driver, neighbor, spouse

From Dollar Tree, you’ll need:

  • Jone’s Soda
  • red & white paper straws
  • faux evergreen branch

You’ll also need:

  • gift card of choice

Instructions:

I love to give gift cards because they’re a great gift for people that are hard to buy for. To make your gift card even better, pick up a Jone’s Soda from Dollar Tree. A red colored variety feels extra festive!

Take some red and white twine tied around the neck of the pop. Next, take one of my free gift tags. Punch a hole in the gift card that you want to give, whether it’s a $5 coffee, gift card, something for a bookstore, whatever you think the recipient would love. Tie that on to the twine with the gifts tag, gift card, paper, straw, and a little piece of faux evergreen foliage. You could even tie a bottle opener to the twine for an extra special touch!
