Candle & Coaster's
Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT ARE YOUR CANDLES MADE OF?
Our candles are made using natural, soy wax, sustainably sourced, wooden wicks and the finest fragrance oils. Just wax, wick & oil, no other additives.
WHERE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE?
Our range of candles, reed diffusers, wax melts and room sprays are all made from our home in Nottinghamshire. We self built a Candle & Coaster HQ home extension in November 2020!
HOW LONG DO YOUR PRODUCTS LAST?
If cared for correctly our 220g candles last for approximately 45-55 hours. Our small reed diffusers last approximately 3 months and large reed diffusers last approximately 5 months when turned frequently, dependent on placement. Our wax melts are sold in boxes of either approximately 50+ or 100+ hours.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY SOY CANDLE?
It is important to follow a few simple instructions to get the most our of your soy candle, these are also included on our care cards with each candle:
Before each burn trim your wooden wick to 5mm. You can do this using wick trimmers, nail clippers or snapping off the burnt wick using your fingers between burns,
Burn your candle for at least 1-2 hours to avoid tunneling.
Burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time and allow at least 24 hours between each burn.
Keep burning candles away from draughts.
When soy wax hardens between burns it tends to have a more rustic look. This is because it is natural and in no way effects the the candle burn.
HOW SHOULD I STORE MY SOY CANDLE?
Soy has a low melting point and therefore we ask that candles are stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Soy candles should not be placed on window sills or in direct sunlight, as this may cause your candle to 'sweat'.
We have created a handy little candle care download for our lovely customers below. Click the widget, download & you can access it easily whenever it's time to light your candle.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY REED DIFFUSER?
Here are a few simple steps to ensure you care for your reed diffuser appropriately:
Diffuser placement can effect it's longevity, avoid placing your diffuser in areas that become hot, or on top of radiators, as this will cause the fluid to travel through the reeds much quicker.
We provide high quality rattan reeds, reeds can be removed and added dependent on desired strength.
Reeds should be turned frequently, we recommend every 2-4 days.
We recommend using gloves when turning saturated reeds and turning them, taking care not to flick any fluid, over a sink.
HOW ARE YOUR COASTERS MADE?
Our Oak coasters are made using recycled wood, hand-crafted by Shaun, an experienced joiner, and only treated with a smidge of natural linseed oil.
