After MANY months, I’m extremely excited to share our living room renovation with you today! Last Fall, we purchased a run-down lakefront home last Fall. You can read more about it here and how we had to demolish it right down to the studs. So far, we’ve made over the main bedroom, the secondary bedroom, the bathroom, and the kitchen, and today I’m sharing the living room makeover.
Here’s how the living room looked BEFORE:
And here’s how this modern coastal living room looks NOW:

- Luxury Vinyl Plank in The Natural from Divine Flooring (gifted)
- Paint is Ultra Pure White, Observatory & Silky White by BEHR
- Pax Wardrobe Units from IKEA
- Wall Sconce, ceiling fan and Area Rug from Home Depot Canada
- Smart TV, electric fireplace & bar cart from Amazon
- Chair is vintage
- Art, mirror from HomeSense

This room turned out so comfy and fresh feeling – perfect to sit down, relax, and enjoy a book or movie by the fireplace!
Like all the other rooms in this home, we had to rip it right down to the studs, re-insulate, and build it back up. We added a fireplace in the center of the room featuring a modern shiplap design, and created a little office nook on the left between two wardrobe units.
Because this living room was so wide, we were able to still have a roomy seating area that looks out to the lake.
Fresh colours of blue, white and gold make this room feel modern and coastal.
I love how this room ties in to the kitchen area, creating a beautiful open concept look at the back of the cabin.
A comfortable office chair and a simple desk with a mirror and wall sconce are the perfect place to get a little work done.
This nook with a vintage rocking chair by the fireplace is one of my favourite spots!
We also have GREAT news! We’ve decided to list our little lake house on Vrbo. You’ll be able to book it to enjoy as a vacation rental for your whole family. Click here to learn more!
What do you think of this room makeover?
You two make a perfect pair. I wish I could have experienced some of that when I was younger. Too old to do anything about it now. Great job on the lake house and all your other projects who have shared.
Good luck and God Bless you and your family!!
I love all your videos and work Christina! Somewhere you mentioned you use behr whisper white on the walls but a different white for trim? I can’t remember where though! Could you repeat that info for me please lol!
